filling

Filling and Sealing

Cans get rinsed, pre-purged with CO2 and filled at a rate of 1'800 cans/hour, before perfectly sealing every single can by cam driven seaming tools.

labeling

Labeling

The filled and sealed can is rinsed before entering our labelling machine. You provide pre-printed cans or labels according to our requirements.

coding

Date Coding

Date coding is included in our service. Our high-speed ink-jet printer prints directly onto the can. No need to have the best before date printed onto the label or pre-printed cans.

measure

Quality

We carefully measure dissolved oxygen, CO2, gravity and seam quality. After filling and 6 weeks of incubating samples, all data is shared via email.

Requirements for Mobile Canning

For successful canning of your product, specific requirements related to both the product and the label design must be met. We strongly advise new clients to schedule a consultation with our team to ensure all guidelines are clearly understood and followed. This consultation will cover:

  • Detailed product specifications, including volume, ingredients, and any special handling needs.
  • Label design requirements, including dimensions, material specifications, and any regulatory compliance information that must be featured.
  • Any additional information or documentation that may be required for the canning process.

Our goal is to ensure a smooth and efficient canning process, and this initial consultation is a crucial step for all new clients.

Product requirements

For carbonated drinks

Product should ideally come with max. 3.0 CO2 %-Volumes or 5.9g/L carbonation.

  • Interaction between carbonation and temperature of the product is key. In general, the following applies:
    • Lower CO2 allows higher filling temperature.
    • Higher CO2 requires low filling temperature.
  • Secondary fermentation carried out within the can, so called «can fermentation», is therefore possible. Such flat products allow temperatures around 10° Celsius.

Discuss the intended carbonation and temperature of your product directly with LAB63. We will calculate the ideal filling temperature according to your planned carbonation levels.

  • Self-adhesive and water-resistant glue (e.g.: HERMA perfectTack, 62Gpt)
  • Transparent (plastic foil) or non-transparent
  • Wrap around or partly covering the can
  • Maximum dimension of label:
    • 330ml: 211 mm x 88 mm (w x h)
    • 440ml: 211 mm x 122 mm (w x h)
  • Minimum interval between labels: 4 mm
  • Maximum width of base paper: 152 mm
  • Maximum spool diameter: 350 mm
  • Inner core of spool diameter: 76 mm

Site requirements

Infrastructure

  • Fresh water (or brewing water) supply with screw-in or “Gardena” gauge. If possible 2x 50l warm water.
  • 1x16A, 400V power supply.
  • 3x Standard 230V power supply.
  • CO2 to preload cans and to regulate tank pressure
  • Tank pressure during filling of 1.9-2.0 bar (27-29psi)
  • Sufficient empty palettes to stack boxes of the finished product
  • Client provides at least one full employee at the day of canning, who is familiar with the site. This person will be mainly responsible for manually packaging the final product into cardboard boxes, each holding 24 cans. At perfect conditions we will run around 30 cans/minute
  • Announce your tank fitting system in advance.

Dimensions

  • Door frame of 200cm headroom and 120cm passage width.
  • About 12 m2 of free space to setup the line, no further away than 13 meters from the product tank
  • Minimal ceiling height: 250cm
  • Ideally a drain as close as possible to our canning machine.
  • Two parking lots for our van and trailer.
  • Ramps or workshop hoists to overcome possible level differences on our way to the product tank (length of our largest machine: 2.2m).

Setup

We are versatile and mobile. Depending on your location we will find a solution to fill your products according to your needs.

Long line setup, offering the highest grade of automation and comfort. Preferred setup.

Same service as above, including a 90 degree angle after the seamer station, highest grade of automation and comfort. Preferred setup.

Less automated

Requires additional staff to infeed the cans, as the bufferzone is not included, results in less automation and applies to locations with limited available space. Can be setup with a 90 degree angle as well.

Manual infeed of cans, where cans have to be manually rinsed before they are fed to the machine. Requires additional staff and applies to locations with limited available space, can be setup with a 90 degree angle as well.

Filling and seaming only, not including the pre-rinse nor labeling machine. Applies to highly restricted spaces or in case we use pre-printed cans. Can be setup with a 90 degree angel as well.
